Ferdinand Kaufmann


Landscape and marine painter. Born in Oberhausen, Germany on Oct. 17, 1864. Kaufmann studied art in Paris with Laurens, Benjamin-Constant, Bouguereau, and Manet. He was a resident of Pittsburgh, PA prior to settling in Southern California in 1921. He was a resident of Pasadena (1934), Laguna Beach (1939), and died in L.A. County in 1942.

Exhibited: Pasadena Art Institute, 1928, 1929 (first prize); Laguna Beach Art Gallery, 1930; California State Fair, 1935 (honorable mention); Academy of Western Painters, 1936; Golden Gate International Exposition, 1939

Works held: Municipal Art Gallery, Davenport, IA
