Painter, lithographer. Born in Oahu, HI on Nov. 28, 1891. Alvarez moved with her family to California in 1906. Settling in Los Angeles, she studied with James E. McBurney, William Cahill, Stanton MacDonald-Wright, and Morgan Russell. An advocate of modern art, her work includes figures, still lifes and portraits.
